CEO

Dr. Rahul Sahgal is the CEO of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce (Swiss AmCham), which oversees efforts to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations between Switzerland and the United States, and works to ensure that Switzerland continues to be a preferred destination for US and international investment. Previously from 2021 to April 2024, Dr. Sahgal served as Deputy Head of the Tax Division at the State Secretariat for International Financial Matters (SIF) in Bern. Prior to his tenure at SIF, he held various diplomatic positions from 2013 to 2021. From August 2017 to July 2021, Dr. Sahgal was stationed in Washington D.C., serving as Counselor for Financial and Fiscal Affairs within the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). Additionally, from 2014 to 2017, he served as Deputy Head of Unit in the Human Security Division at the FDFA, and his diplomatic career began in 2013 as Attaché Diplomatique at the Swiss Mission to the EU in Brussels. Before his diplomatic service, Rahul held leadership roles in the private sector, among them, he worked for Deloitte Consulting in Zurich and was Managing Director of Autoneum India. From 2009 to 2013, he served as a Board Member and President of the Northern Region with the Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Sahgal holds master's degrees in both business administration and law, as well as a PhD, all earned from the University of St. Gallen.

Mission

The Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce promotes and facilitates better business relations between the US and Switzerland. It brings business leaders together to facilitate contacts and provides platforms for networking in both countries. Swiss AmCham represents the mutual interests of members and takes action to further these interests. It also facilitates the mobility of member firms and their employees in both countries. Swiss AmCham promotes both countries as advantageous places to do business and fosters good corporate citizenship to benefit the communities in which members do business.

Our commitment to your business

Swiss AmCham plays an active role in assisting Swiss companies in the United States and US companies in Switzerland by helping to create positive and suitable economic policy frameworks. As the largest association of multinational companies (irrespective of their size and nationality) in Switzerland, the Swiss AmCham addresses all issues of concern to this sector for the long-term success for multinational companies and the Swiss economy.

Swiss AmCham focusses on macroeconomic policy issues impacting free flow of goods, services, investments and people between the USA and Switzerland, as well as macroeconomic policy issue impacting optimal operations of international companies based in Switzerland – Swiss and foreign companies, large and small.

Our Office

Our office is located within five minutes walking distance from Paradeplatz, opposite the Restaurant Kaufleuten. The Tram stop “Sihlstrasse” (serviced by lines 2 and 9) is right in front of the building. Nearby car parks are “Talgarten” and “Gessnerallee”.
