Defense and Security in Times of Fragmentation

Join us for a conversation with General Curtis M. “Mike” Scaparrotti, former Commander of the U.S. European Command and NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), as he reflects on lessons from more than four decades of military leadership.

As the 18th SACEUR (2016-2019), he led NATO through a critical period, working to preserve the security and stability of the Alliance and strengthen it in the face of traditional and emerging threats. His earlier commands took him from Korea to Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, Liberia, and Rwanda - experiences that have shaped his understanding of modern conflict and global security.

In a discussion with Georg Häsler, Journalist - Security and Defense Policy at Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) and Colonel in the Swiss Armed Forces, General Scaparrotti will share his perspective on how defense and security institutions can adapt to an increasingly fragmented international landscape and what the implications for Switzerland could be.
