| USA & Switzerland: Two Republics that Need Each Other |
|
On February 26, Swiss Parliamentarians met up with their US counterparts for a friendly get-together on Capitol Hill. This great event was co-organized by the Embassy of Switzerland, the “Friends of Switzerland Caucus”, the Swiss-American Parliamentary Association and the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of the reauthorization of the Friends of Switzerland Caucus and was a great success.
The panel discussion with Swiss Ambassador to the USA, Urs Ziswiler, Rep. Tammy Baldwin (Democratic Co-Chair Friends of Switzerland Caucus), Rep. Wally Herger (Republican Co-Chair Friends of Switzerland Caucus), State Councillor Peter Briner (President of the Swiss-American Parliamentary Association) and Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce CEO, Martin Naville, was very well attended. |

The economic crisis and increased scrutiny of financial services have warranted a fresh look at relations between the United States and the world’s other financial superpowers. This environment provided the backdrop for this panel discussion led by Marcus Brauchli, Executive Editor of Washington Post, who is of Swiss descent. More than 50 senior staffers of various parliamentarians, as well as many friends of Switzerland were in attendance.
In the evening of the same day, the Embassy, the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce and the American Swiss Foundation hosted a reception bringing together the stakeholders who make the Swiss-US relationship a success.
